A Gaibandha court has rejected ruling party lawmaker Manjurul Islam Liton’s bail petition and ordered to send him to jail in a case filed for shooting a minor boy in Sundarganj upazila.Gaibandha Chief Judicial Magistrate Moinul Hassan Yusuf passed the order on Thursday afternoon.MP Liton was produced before a local court around 11:45am after he was moved to Gaibandha overnight following his arrest.Detectives arrested Manjurul Islam Liton in the city’s Uttara area on Wednesday night.The arrest came hours after the Supreme Court (SC) stayed a High Court order that directed the ruling party MP to surrender before a lower court by October 18 in a case for shooting the minor boy.The SC passed the order on Wednesday following a petition filed by the state on Tuesday seeking a stay on the HC order.Early on Monday, the HC rejected the bail petition filed by Liton and asked him to surrender before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Gaibandha by October 18.
