Jamaat calls hartal for Monday

Jamaat-e-Islami called an eight-hour-long hartal (shutdown) across the country for Monday, protesting the execution of its leader Mir Quasem Ali.The hartal will be enforced from 6am to 2pm. Jamaat will also hold special prayers for him and the welfare for the country on Sunday, said a press release issued by Jamaat on Saturday night.Earlier Mir Quasem Ali was hanged at Kashimpur Central Jail on Saturday at 10.30pm for crimes against humanity committed during the 1971 War of Independence.
