A farmer was killed in an attack by a herd of wild elephants at Julgaon village in Sribordi upazila of Sherpur district early Friday.The deceased was identified as Dudu Mia, 50, son of Bokttar Mia of the village.Nuhush Chandra Hajong, a Forest Department official, said Dudu Mia was patrolling crops fields in the bordering area against attack of wild elephants on Thursday.At one stage, a herd of wild elephants coming from inside the forest swooped on Dudu Mia while he was asleep in a shed around 4am and trampled him, leaving him dead on the spot.Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khaleda Nasrin and forest officials visited the spot.
