Death-row convict Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mir Quasem Ali sought more time from the Kashimpur jail authorities to decide over presidential clemency.Prasanta Kumar Banik, Jail superintendent of Kashimpur Jail-2, confirmed the matter to the reporters on Thursday.He said, ‘Mir Quasem was asked over mercy plea around 11am. He sought more time to inform the decision.’He, however, did not tell the exact time. Earlier on Wednesday night, Inspector General of Prisons Brigadier General Syed Iftekhar Uddin said Mir Quasem would get logical time to take decision over mercy plea.The verdict copy of war criminal Mir Quasem Ali reached Kashimpur Central Jail-2 from Dhaka Central Jail on Tuesday midnight. It was read out to Mir Quasem at 7:30am the following morning.
