BCB dismisses Sri Lankan Kalpage

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has sacked Ruwan Kalpage, assistant coach of national team, as he failed to report to the duty in stipulated deadline.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board had earlier asked Kalpage to join the national team’s conditioning camp ahead of home series against England by August 16.

‘We had set a deadline for him to join, but he did not respond,’ said BCB chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury. ‘So we decided to lapse his contract.’

Kalpage had reportedly expressed his concern over safety following an attack by Islamist militants on a Dhaka cafe last month that left 22 people, mostly foreigners, dead.
