Reports of fire damage to Sagar-Runi case files not true: AAG

The reports that evidence of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi murder case was partially burnt in a fire is incorrect, Additional Attorney General (AAG) Arshadur Rauf said on Tuesday, April 22.

"The news sugesting that case documents were burnt is not true," he told the media this afternoon.

He came up with this clarification following the prosecution told the High Court that documents related to the Sagar-Runi murder case kept under police's Detective Branch (DB) were partially burnt in a case.

In a statement, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, DMP, also dismissed the reports of fire damage to the sensational case files.

Today the High Court bench of Justice Fatema Nazib and Justice Shikdar Mahmudur Rajib granted six more months to the Taslforce to complete the investigation into the case.
