Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested five men on charge of public examinations results forgery from the capital’s Shahabagh area on Saturday.
The detainees are Al Rabit alias Suvo, Riyaj Bhuiyan, Mehdi Hasan, Najrul Islam alias Raju and Asaduzzaman alias Galib.
DB Joint Commissioner Abdul Baten of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said police recovered mobile phones, laptop and some software used for the forgery.
The arrestees were members of a gang, who contact the students willing to pass the exams like SSC, HSC or manipulate their mark sheets in exchange of money, Baten added.
They also made phone calls using clone numbers of important people such as IGP, secretary and alike.
A case was filed in this connection.
