The police arrested Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, a former lawmaker from Dhaka-10 constituency and former president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, FBCCI, in Dhaka’s Uttara on Wednesday evening, January 8.
He was apprehended from his residence at Sector no. 8 and shown arrested in a case filed with the Uttara West police station over a murder during the student-people movement in July and August last year, the police station’s officer-in-charge (OC) Md Hafijur Rahman told Jago News.
The police would produce him before the court on Thursday, January 9, and seek remand against him, the OC added.
Arrested Mohiuddin won the by-election to Dhaka-10 seat in 2020 with Awami League’s nomination.
He is former president of FBCCI, and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, BGMEA.
