BNP has expressed deep concern over the incident of fire at the Secretariat in the capital in the early hours of today (Thursday).
In a statement today, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also mourned the death of a fire fighter and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and wished quick recovery of the injured.
"I am deeply concerned over the terrible fire in a sensitive building like the Secretariat and the death of one person and the injury of two/three more," he said.
The BNP secretary general said the fire caused extensive damage as important documents were burnt to ashes.
"It is not unusual for the current interim government to find itself in an embarrassing situation due to such a fire incident," he said.
Fakhrul strongly demanded the real culprits be found out and punished through a fair investigation into the fire at the Secretariat.
He also called for providing compensation to the families of the deceased and the injured.
