No place for people linked with massacre in BNP: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that individuals involved in July-August massacre would not be allowed to join the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

He made this remark while responding to journalists' questions after distributing winter clothes to cold-affected people at the Thakurgaon Press Club on Tuesday (December 24) around 11:30am.

When asked about reports of Awami League leaders joining BNP in various districts, Fakhrul said, "I am not aware of this. However, our acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, has clearly instructed that anyone involved in terrorism, massacre, or corruption will not be accepted into BNP."

In response to a query about the solution to corruption and fascism in the country, Fakhrul emphasised the need for democracy.

"To eradicate these issues, democracy must be established. The rule of the people must prevail. The country should be governed by a parliament elected by its citizens. I am not aware of any other alternative," he said.
