A worker lost their life in a fire at a button-making factory in Sripur, Gazipur. The victim's identity has yet to be confirmed.
The incident occurred at M&U Trims, located in Bhangnahati village, Ward No. 4 of Sripur Municipality, around 1:30 PM on Sunday (December 22).
Seven fire service units battled the blaze for two and a half hours, bringing it under control around 4:00 PM.
According to factory authorities, the fire started suddenly in the chemical warehouse, triggering multiple explosions. Panic spread quickly as employees scrambled to escape.
Gazipur Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Mohammad Al Mamun stated that fire units from Joydevpur (three), Rajendrapur Modern Fire Service (two), and Sripur Fire Service (two) worked jointly to extinguish the flames.
An investigation is expected to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage.
