A local leader of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, JCD, has been shot dead in Narsingdi's Sadar over political vengeance, establishing supremacy and land dispute.
Dead Humayun Kabir, 26, was a member of Meherpara union unit JCD, and son of Ekramul Haque, a resident of Nagrarhat area under the union.
Relatives said Humayun had a conflict with same area residents Badal Mia, Shah Alam, and Ataul Member over establishing supremacy in the locality, and land dispute. Several cases have also been filed over the discord.
Around 12:00 midnight on Saturday, four people, including Shah Alam and Tipu, called Humayun out of home and took him to a fish warehouse at Panchdona Bazaar and shot him there.
Later, he was rushed to a nearby hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Sujan Bhuiyan, Humayun's friend and Meherpara union JCD joint secretary, claimed he led the movements in Panchdon and Meherpara to topple the fascist Awami League government that angered many of the locality and in continuation of this, he was shot dead.
Madhabdi police station's officer-in-charge Nazrul Islam said they assume he was killed over a previous enmity.
