Ragibul Hasan Ripu, the former Member of Parliament for Bogura-6, has been arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) while in hiding. He faces a total of 13 charges, including murder, in various police stations across the district.
Lieutenant Colonel Munim Ferdous, Director of RAB’s Legal and Media Wing, confirmed the arrest on Thursday.
He stated that Ripu had been in hiding in the Mohongonj Municipality area of Netrakona. Based on intelligence reports, a team from RAB-14 apprehended him on the night of Wednesday. Legal action is underway in this regard.
Ripu was elected as the Member of Parliament for Bogura-6 (Sadar) constituency in the by-election on February 1, 2023.
On August 5, Sheikh Hasina resigned as Prime Minister and fled to India amid a mass uprising. The following day, on August 6, the President dissolved the Parliament, leading to Ripu losing his parliamentary seat.
