A fire erupted in the Bau Bazar area of the Karail slum in the capital, prompting seven units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence to respond.
The fire was reported around 4:15pm on Wednesday (December 18), according to Fire Service Control Room Duty Officer Rakibul Islam, who confirmed the incident to Jago News.
Initially, five fire service units arrived on the scene, while two additional units were delayed due to traffic congestion. They later joined the efforts to control the blaze. However, water tankers faced difficulties accessing the slum due to its narrow roads.
As of now, the cause of the fire and any potential casualties remain unknown.
Fires have previously broken out in Karail, a densely populated slum area, raising concerns about recurring safety issues.
