BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has warned that the upcoming elections will be more challenging than any in the past and urged party leaders and activists to prepare thoroughly.
At the same time, he cautioned them to remain vigilant against internal conspirators.
Tarique Rahman made these remarks while addressing an online workshop held at the Giasuddin Islamic Model College in Hirajheel, Narayanganj, on Tuesday afternoon (December 17).
“I can say with 100 per cent certainty that the upcoming elections will be far more difficult than any previous elections,” he said.
Addressing the leaders and activists, he said, “If you think there is no strong opponent or that this election will be easy, you are mistaken. No, no, and no—this election will be tougher than ever before. Prepare yourselves to win with the support of the people.”
Tarique Rahman emphasised that BNP’s popularity has led to jealousy among rivals, triggering both domestic and international conspiracies.
“People have been conspiring against BNP since the time of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman, even before 1981. These conspiracies have not stopped. When there is a conspiracy against BNP, it is not just against the party; it is also a conspiracy against Bangladesh's independence and sovereignty.”
He further warned that agents of conspirators have infiltrated BNP. “The dictatorship may have fled, its leaders may have fled, but its remnants are still active. These agents are working inside the party, and you must stay alert.”
Issuing a stern warning, Tarique Rahman said, “If any party member pursues personal interests or tarnishes BNP’s reputation, they must be resisted strongly. Strong action must be taken against anyone defaming the party for their own gain. This is my clear instruction. Remember, the support of the people is our greatest strength, and without them, we cannot succeed.”
The workshop was presided over by Narayanganj District BNP President Giasuddin and moderated by General Secretary Golam Faruk Khokon.
BNP Media Cell Convener Professor Dr. Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel attended as the main discussant, while key BNP leaders—including former MP Rehana Akhter Ranu, Central Committee Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Central Co-Organizing Secretary Nazrul Islam Azad, and Central Executive Members Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan Dipu and Azaharul Islam Mannan—participated as special guests.
