Eden College BCL President Tamanna Jasmin arrested

Members of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested Tamanna Jasmin Riva, president of the Eden Women’s College unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), a banned student organization.

The arrest was confirmed on Sunday night by Rezaul Karim Mallik, Additional Commissioner (DB) of DMP.

He stated that the interim government has declared BCL a banned organization and listed it as a prohibited entity. Despite this, attempts were made to conduct political activities under the banner of the organization. Based on specific allegations and information, Riva, president of the Eden Women’s College unit of the banned organization, was arrested from the capital.

Mallik further mentioned that Riva faces multiple cases, and legal proceedings against her are underway.

Earlier, on Saturday night, DB police arrested Nishita Iqbal Nodi, the former vice-president of Dhaka University’s Shamsunnahar Hall unit of Chhatra League, from the Bashundhara Residential Area in Dhaka.
