US wants Bangladesh-India to resolve disagreements peacefully

The United States has said that it wants Bangladesh and India to resolve their disagreements peacefully.

State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller made this statement during a daily press briefing on Tuesday.

"We want to see all parties resolve their disagreements peacefully," Miller said in response to a question about the recent visit of India's Foreign Secretary to Bangladesh and a violent attack on a Bangladeshi diplomatic mission in India.

On December 2, protesters from the Hindu Sangharsh Samity attacked the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala, Tripura. They vandalised the flagpole, desecrated the national flag, and damaged property within the mission while protesting the arrest of ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das and demanding his immediate release.

Six days after the attack, and amid recent political developments in Bangladesh, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited Dhaka on December 9. During the visit, he held meetings with Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin, and Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain.
