The Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) between Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin and Indian External Affairs Secretary Vikram Misri began on Monday at 11:00am at the State Guest House Padma.
The meeting is focused on key bilateral issues, including trade, visa policies, connectivity, border killings, water-sharing, and other matters of mutual interest.
Indian External Affairs Secretary Vikram Misri, who arrived in Dhaka at 9:00 AM, is participating in the first high-level diplomatic engagement between India and Bangladesh following the recent political changes in Bangladesh.
After the FOC, Misri is scheduled to attend a luncheon and meet Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus and Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain for courtesy calls.
Later in the day, he will hold further discussions with the Chief Adviser at the State Guest House Jamuna before departing Dhaka tonight.
The talks are expected to address recent strains in bilateral relations, particularly following the mass uprising on August 5 that led to the ousting of the Awami League government. Both sides aim to navigate these challenges and reinforce their partnership on mutual priorities.
