This year’s death toll from the mosquito-borne disease dengue exceeded 500 on Tuesday, December 3, according to the Directorate General of Health Services, DGHS.
Seven more deaths were reported from the disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of fatalities to 504, while additional 629 patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, taking the tally to 93,685 to date this year, a DGHS press release said.
Of the dead, two were from Dhaka South City Corporation, two from Dhaka North City Corporation, one from Khulna division, and another from Barishal, according to the release.
Last year, the country recorded 1,705 deaths from the disease which was the highest fatality in a year.
Besides, 3,21,179 dengue cases were reported in the same year.
