Md Touhid Hossain, the Foreign Affairs Advisor to the interim government, briefed foreign diplomats stationed in Dhaka on Monday, December 2, addressing concerns about the treatment of religious minorities in Bangladesh.
Representatives from various countries, including India, Pakistan, and other major nations, attended the session at the State Guest House Padma.
The briefing, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focused on clarifying the government’s stance against allegations made by sections of the Indian media regarding minority oppression in Bangladesh.
In his address, Adviser Touhid Hossain reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of all communities, emphasizing that such allegations are baseless and part of a campaign to distort Bangladesh’s image internationally.
Representatives from the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, Germany, Japan, China, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Singapore, and Pakistan were present at the briefing. Officials from international organizations and United Nations agencies operating in Bangladesh also participated in the discussions.
The session reflects the interim government’s efforts to maintain transparency and address any misconceptions about its commitment to the safety and welfare of religious minorities.
