9 more police officers sent on forced retirement

The government has sent nine police officers, all holding the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police, into forced retirement.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued individual notifications confirming the retirements, with Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division, Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen, signing on behalf of the President.

The officers include Shawkat Anwar Islam, Assistant Police Commissioner of BMP; Md Selim Hossain, Assistant Police Superintendent of CID; Md Enayet Hossain, Assistant Police Superintendent of SSF; Md Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Police Superintendent of RAB; Md Matiur Rahman, Assistant Police Superintendent of APBn; Md Nasir Uddin Bhuiyan, Assistant Police Superintendent of RAB; Md Jamal Uddin, Assistant Police Superintendent of RAB; Jobairul Haque, Assistant Police Superintendent of APBn; and Md Mosharraf Hossain, Assistant Police Superintendent of Industrial Police.

According to the notifications, these officers were retired in the public interest under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018 (Act No. 57 of 2018). They will receive retirement benefits as per legal provisions.

This is part of an ongoing process of forced retirements initiated on August 13, when former Special Branch (SB) head, Additional IGP Md Monirul Islam, and former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman were sent into retirement.

Earlier, on November 5, the government also retired an Additional Police Superintendent and eight Assistant Police Superintendents.
