A fire broke out in the basement of a Mercantile Bank branch located in the Manoshi Plaza building in Farmgate, Dhaka. Five fire service units are working to bring the blaze under control.
Lima Khanam, duty officer of the Fire Service Control Room, confirmed the incident on Saturday (November 23) at around 2:00 pm.
She stated, "The fire started at approximately 9:20 am in the basement of the Manoshi Plaza building in Farmgate. Upon receiving the news, five fire service units rushed to the scene and are working to control the flames."
According to initial reports, the basement houses a large number of documents belonging to Mercantile Bank, many of which are being burned in the fire. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined. No casualties have been reported so far.
