AF Hassan Ariff, adviser to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, as well as the Ministry of Land, on Friday said the interim government formed an Election Commission and it will now head towards polls in phases.
He said this while talking to the reporters after inspecting the Asian International Trade Fair at BICC at Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar this afternoon.
"I hope everyone who has come to the Election Commission are experienced and they can hold a good election," the adviser said, adding that efforts are underway to attrack local and international observers.
On Thursday, the government formed a new Election Commission by appointing retired secretary AMM Nasir Uddina as the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).
New four Election Commissioners were also appointed. They are: former Additional Secretary Md Anwarul Islam Sarkar, former District and Sessions Judge Abdur Rahmanel Masud, former Joint Secretary Begum Tahmida Ahmed, and Brigadier General (retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah.
