Mamun, Ziaul, 4 others shown arrested in genocide case

Former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, former Director General of the National Telecommunications Monitoring Centre (NTMC) Major General (retd) Ziaul Hasan, and four others have been shown as arrested in a case filed at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) over alleged genocide during the student-led mass uprising in July and August.

The other accused are former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station Abul Hasan, suspended Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Dhaka District Abdullahil Kafi, former OC of Gulshan Police Station Md Mazharul Haque, and former Inspector of Dhaka North DB Police Md Arafat Hossain.

A three-member panel, led by ICT Chairman Md Golam Mortuza, passed the order on Wednesday.

The prosecutor of the tribunal, Abdullah Al Noman, confirmed that six officials have been shown as arrested in the genocide case. Additionally, two other officials, who were previously shown as arrested, were also presented before the tribunal today.

The two other accused are former Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mirpur Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Jasim Uddin Mollah and former Additional Superintendent of Police (Savar Circle) of Dhaka District Mohammad Shahidul Islam, both of whom have already been arrested.
