The United Kingdom is closely monitoring Dr Muhammad Yunus’s vision for Bangladesh's democratic progress, British Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Indo-Pacific Catherine West said on Sunday.
She made this comment on Sunday (November 17) in response to a question from journalists after her meeting with Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Tauhid Hossain at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She said, "In this regard, the UK will try to support the people of Bangladesh in the next phase, depending on the type of assistance the interim government seeks."
Catherine further added, "I have come to Bangladesh after 11 years. This is my second visit to the country, and I am very pleased to be here now as the Indo-Pacific Minister. I met with the interim government’s foreign affairs adviser. We understand that Bangladesh's interim government is committed to restoring peace and order, ensuring accountability, and advancing national reconciliation. We fully support these efforts."
