Army's magistracy powers extended for 2 more months

The interim government has extended the executive magistracy powers granted to army officers for two more months, in a bid to maintain law and order in the country.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Friday.

Earlier on September 17, the government issued a notification, granting the executive magistracy powers for the commissioned officers of the army.

On September 30, the notification was amended to give the magistracy powers to the commissioned officers of the Bangladesh air force, and navy besides army.

The army magistrates will oversee activities related to offences under Sections 64, 65, 83, 84, 86, 95(2), 100, 105, 107, 109, 110, 126, 127, 128, 130, 133 and 142 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1898 (CRPC), the notification said.
