Begum Samia Sultana has been appointed as the new director general (DG) of the Soil Resource Development Institute, SRDI.
The Ministry of Agriculture issued an order on Wednesday (November 13) in this regard.
Samia Sultana, the chief scientific officer and project director (CCDS) at SRDI, replaces Jalal Uddin who was removed following allegations of irregularities and corruption.
Soil Resource Development Institute officials raised allegations of various irregularities and grafts against its DG Jalal Uddin after the Awami League-led government’s fall by the student-people mass uprising.
Jago News published an investigative report in this regard on October 19.
The report revealed money has been embezzled not printing books of upazila guidelines last year. Not only the previous year, a syndicate of Jalal Uddin and a few other officials embezzled money every year in the name of book printing.
