BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Wednesday that India is continually campaigning against Bangladesh.
He made this remark while speaking with journalists at his Kalibari residence after laying the foundation stone for the BNP office in Thakurgaon.
Mirza Fakhrul highlighted the importance of caution regarding information shared on social media, emphasising both its potential for positive and harmful impact.
“Some individuals are actively working to undermine Bangladesh’s achievements,” he said. "We cannot afford another disaster at this moment."
According to Mirza Fakhrul, the main threat is still looming. "The mastermind behind fascism operates from India, which is persistently campaigning against Bangladesh. If we don’t stay vigilant, we’ll face significant risks as a nation."
He criticised the ruling Awami League, accusing it of dividing the nation. "The fascist Awami League has succeeded in one thing: dividing our nation. We seek a united Bangladesh, setting aside political differences on core issues like independence, sovereignty, democracy, and citizens’ rights," Fakhrul said. "We have worked to maintain and strengthen this unity."
When asked about the involvement of students, the public, and political parties in appointing new advisers, Mirza Fakhrul explained, “The Chief Adviser of the interim government has the authority to appoint advisers. There’s no requirement for political party coordination, though they may choose to consult. I advise caution—they should avoid selecting controversial figures. We, too, hold a responsibility to ensure this government’s success, as we supported the movement. We must exercise tolerance.”
Also present were BNP leaders including former Thakurgaon-3 MP Zahidul Islam, District BNP General Secretary Mirza Faisal Amin, and Municipal BNP President Shariful Islam Sharif.
