The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court issued an order on Tuesday suspending the decision to appoint a receiver for Beximco Pharmaceuticals. However, the court stated that the appointment of receivers for other entities within the Beximco Group would remain in effect.
A three-member bench of the Appellate Division, led by Senior Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam, passed the order following a hearing.
The court had scheduled the hearing for Tuesday on Monday. Senior lawyers Fida M. Kamal and Mustafizur Rahman Khan represented Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited, while lawyer Muniruzzaman appeared for Bangladesh Bank, and senior lawyer Masud A. Sobhan represented the writ petitioner.
Earlier, senior Supreme Court lawyer Masud A. Sobhan had filed a writ petition on the matter. On September 5, following a hearing, a High Court bench comprising Justices AKM Asaduzzaman and Muhammad Mahbub-ul-Islam had issued an order to appoint a receiver to oversee all assets of the Beximco Group and instructed that these assets be attached for six months.
