Advisory Council expands, 5 more advisers may take oath this evening

The interim government is set to expand with the addition of five new advisers, who will likely to take oath on Sunday evening.

The Cabinet Division and the Department of Government Transport sources provided this information.

However, the identities of the five new advisers were not immediately disclosed.

Md Abul Hasanat Humayun Kabir, transport commissioner (additional secretary) of the Government Transport Department, told Jago News that they were directed to keep cars ready and they did so.

Following the resignation of Sheikh Hasina as Prime Minister on August 5, amidst an anti-discrimination student movement, the cabinet was dissolved, and the president dissolved the 12th Jatiya Sangsad the next day, on August 6.

The interim government, led by Nobel Peace Prize-winning economist Dr Muhammad Yunus, was sworn in on August 8.

Initially, the council included 16 advisers and later, the number of advisers were increased to 21.
