A Dhaka court has granted a six-day remand for Awami League Presidium member and former minister Amir Hossain Amu in connection with the shooting and killing of trader Abdul Wadud in the capital's New Market area during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza issued the order on Thursday after DB police inspector Jahangir Arif presented Amu before the court, requesting a seven-day remand.
Earlier on Wednesday, Dhaka Metropolitan DB police arrested Amu in Dhanmondi.
Wadud was shot dead by police in the Nilkhet area under New Market Police Station on July 19. His brother-in-law filed a murder case against 130 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former bridges minister Obaidul Quader.
