Law and order much improved, further progress expected: Adviser

Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Wednesday said the country’s law and order situation has significantly improved, and efforts are underway to achieve further progress.

He made the statement during a press briefing on Wednesday (November 6), following a meeting with various agencies to discuss Dhaka's law and order situation, held at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"The law-and-order situation across the entire city will be improved based on the 'Mohammadpur Model' (following the approach used by law enforcement in Mohammadpur). There will be no leniency for extortionists, and no criminal, no matter how influential, will be spared," the Home Affairs Adviser stated.

He added, "We will monitor the situation to ensure no shops are set up occupying the roads. Your cooperation will be needed. Additionally, we will work with the Ministry of Power to stop charging facilities for auto-rickshaw batteries to keep them off the main roads."

Representatives from the army, police, and various other agencies participated in the meeting.
