A Dhaka court on Monday showed former Dhaka-7 lawmaker Haji Mohammad Salim arrested in a case lodged over attempt to murder one Fazlur Karim in front of Dhaka Alia Madrasa in the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza passed the order as police produced the former lawmaker before the court and pleaded to show him arrested in the case.
Haji Salim was arrested from the capital's Bongshal area in the early hours of September 2 and was placed on five-day remand in a murder case on that day, reports BSS.
According to the case documents, Md Fazlur Karim, 50, joined anti-discrimination student movement rally on August 5. As the rally reached in front of Alia Madrasa, police and Awami League men attacked the rally, injuring many including the complainant. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he took treatment.
Fazlur Karim filed the case with the capital's Chawkbazar Police Station on October 26, against 104 including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
