Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has raised concerns about the Indian central government's decision to grant asylum to ousted Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
"I would like to know if the BJP has some kind of internal understanding with Bangladesh," he said while speaking at an election rally in the Garhwa constituency on Monday, reports NDTV.
"On what grounds did you permit the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh to enter India and seek asylum?" Soren questioned, adding, "Infiltrators from Bangladesh enter India through BJP-ruled states, and they themselves are saying it."
Soren’s comments came in response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who, while unveiling the BJP manifesto, accused the Jharkhand government of "sheltering" infiltrators.
"You have given shelter to infiltrators and made them your votebank," Amit said. "The BJP will end appeasement politics, expel infiltrators, and rebuild Jharkhand from scratch," Amit asserted.
