The Ministry of Health has renamed 14 medical and dental colleges and hospitals, including the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka.
This update was shared in a notification signed by Senior Secretary MA Akmal Hossain Azad on Sunday (November 3).
Here are the new names of the hospitals and institutes:
National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (previously Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka), Faridpur Medical College and Hospital (formerly Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital in Faridpur), Gopalganj Eye Hospital and Training Institute (formerly Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Eye Hospital and Training Institute in Gopalganj), Tangail Medical College (formerly Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Tangail), National Gastroliver Institute (formerly Sheikh Russell National Gastroliver Institute and Hospital), Gopalganj Dental College Hospital (formerly Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Dental College Hospital in Gopalganj), Gopalganj Medical College and Hospital (formerly Sheikh Saira Khatun Medical College Hospital in Gopalganj), Gopalganj Trauma Center (formerly Sheikh Saira Khatun Trauma Center in Gopalganj), Sirajganj 250-Bed General Hospital (formerly Sirajganj 250-Bed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital), Jamalpur Medical College Hospital (formerly Jamalpur Sheikh Hasina Medical College Hospital), Khulna Specialised Hospital (formerly Khulna Shaheed Sheikh Abu Naser Specialised Hospital), Daldia Union Health Sub-center, Katiyadi, Kishoreganj (formerly Bangabandhu (Daldia) Union Health Sub-center of Katiyadi, Kishoreganj), Manikganj Medical College Hospital (formerly Colonel Malek Medical College Hospital, Manikganj), Dinajpur Medical College Hospital (formerly Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital).
The ministry's decision aims to simplify and standardise the names of these healthcare institutions across national and district levels.
