Liver specialist Mobin Khan passes away

Prominent liver specialist Dr Mobin Khan, a former treasurer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and founding chairman of the hepatology department there, has passed away. 

He died on Thursday, October 31, at 3:30pm while receiving treatment in the intensive care unit at Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Hospital in Dhaka. He was 75 years old. The authorities at Mobin Khan Liver Center have confirmed his death to the media.

Dr. Sheikh Abdullah Al Mamun from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) announced the news on Facebook.

Mobin Khan had been suffering from various age-related ailments, including diabetes and Parkinson's disease, and was receiving treatment at a hospital in the capital. 

The time and place for his funeral and burial have yet to be determined.

Mobin Khan was the former Treasurer and Founder Chairman of the Department of Hepatology at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. He is often referred to as the "Father of Hepatology in Bangladesh."

Born in 1949, Mobin Khan served as the president of the Bangladesh Hepatology Society, an organisation dedicated to liver specialists and liver disease awareness at both national and international levels.
