United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk arrived in Dhaka on Monday night for a two-day visit.
He was welcomed at the airport by Toufiq Hasan, Director General and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' UN Division.
During his visit from October 29 to 30, Turk is expected to meet with senior officials, civil society representatives, and Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.
He is also scheduled to meet with various ministry advisors, the Chief Justice, the Army Chief, and heads of reform commissions.
Turk will address Dhaka University students engaged in the recent protest movement and hold discussions with representatives from UN organisations and the diplomatic community in Bangladesh.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights will conclude his visit with a press conference on Wednesday at 5:30 pm.
