A group of students from Dhaka City College blocked the road in front of the institution on Monday, demanding the resignation of its principal and vice-principal. They began the protest by blocking Dhanmondi 2 Road around 12:30 pm.
During the protest, students were seen chanting various slogans against the principal and vice-principal. The blockade resulted in traffic being halted on one side of the road, and police and army personnel have been deployed to the scene.
The students claimed that Principal Kazi Mohammad Niyamul Haque and Vice-Principal Md Mokhlesur Rahman are conducting various activities in violation of college regulations. They alleged that the two are using the college for personal gain and have established business ventures under the name of the educational institution. For this reason, the students are demanding their resignations.
A student named Antu said, "A few days ago, I paid a tuition fee of 15,000 taka. Those who have failed in one or two subjects have been charged extra fees under the guise of additional classes. The principal and vice-principal have turned the college into a business organization. That’s why we want their resignation."
