Aug 5 uprising didn’t follow constitution: Golam Parwar

Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar said that the August 5 uprising did not follow constitutional principles, adding that bringing constitutional arguments into every issues would yield no benefit.

“Those holding key administrative and state positions remain aligned with Awami League interests, using constitutional arguments as an excuse to undermine the current government,” Parwar said, adding that the youth of the country would not accept such tactics.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at the Rukan (members) conference of the Shariatpur district unit of the party at the Shariatpur Municipal Auditorium. The conference was presided over by Shariatpur district unit amir Maulana Abdur Rab Hashemi, with district nayeb-e-amir KM Maqbul Hossain as the special guest.

Addressing the attendees, Parwar emphasised that the core of Jamaat-e-Islami lies with its “Rukons,” the committed members who act as pillars of the organisation.

He encouraged them to embody leadership qualities through dedicated study of the Qur’an, Sunnah, and Islamic literature, aiming to build the capability to lead the Islamic movement effectively.

Parwar stressed that success requires bringing their mission to every household and called on the Rukons to be prepared to make sacrifices for the nation’s welfare. "Jamaat is more than a political party," he added. "It is an institution dedicated to nurturing principled, capable leaders committed to establishing religious values."

Also in attendance were former Shariatpur District Jamaat amir Sirajul Haque Munshi, Kamrangirchar Thana Jamaat Ameer Mujibur Rahman Khan, and former student leader Advocate Nizam Uddin. The program was moderated by Maulana Masudur Rahman.
