Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus emphasised Sunday that officers with integrity, ethics, and leadership qualities are the ones truly deserving of promotion within the Bangladesh Navy and Air Force.
Speaking at the official launch of the "Navy and Air Force Selection Board-2024" at the Air Force Headquarters, Yunus stressed that promotions should reflect professional skills, discipline, honesty, and loyalty.
He urged the board to prioritise officers who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in various roles within military life.
The Selection Board will review qualified officers from ranks of Captain, Commander, and Lieutenant Commander in the Navy, and Group Captain, Wing Commander, and Squadron Leader in the Air Force for potential advancement.
Reflecting on Bangladesh's new journey, Yunus paid tribute to the martyrs of the student-led uprising as well as the brave members of the armed forces who fought in the war for independence, whose sacrifices remain deeply respected.
He also commended the Navy and Air Force for their unwavering support during national crises, underscoring that their dedication has reinforced public trust in both branches.
On his arrival, Chief Adviser Yunus was welcomed by chief of naval staff Admiral M Nazmul Hasan and chief of air staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan. The ceremony also included attendance by the Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Defence and National Integration, the Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces, and the Defence Secretary.
The event concluded with Yunus capturing the moment in a photo session with senior officers, recording his reflections in the inspection book, and planting a fruit tree sapling on the Air Force Headquarters grounds.
