Renowned educationist and author Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque, a former professor of Dhaka University’s Bangla Department, has been appointed as the chairman of Bangla Academy for the next three years.
The appointment has been made according to Sections 6(1), 6(2), and 6(3) of the Bangla Academy Act, 2013.
The Ministry of Culture issued a gazette notification regarding this appointment on Sunday. The notification states that his appointment will be effective from the date of assuming office.
Additionally, it mentions that the responsibilities of the chairman and other functions will be governed by the Bangla Academy Act, 2013.
Notably, the former chairman of Bangla Academy, novelist Selina Hossain, has recently resigned from her position.
