ICT orders to produce 14 including 8 ex-ministers on Nov 18

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Sunday directed authorities to produce 14 individuals, including two former prime ministers’ advisers and eight former ministers, before it on November 18 in a case filed on charges of genocide that occurred in July and August.

The individuals include former adviser for private industries affairs to the former Prime Minister, Salman F Rahman; former power, energy, and mineral resources adviser Toufiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury; former ministers Anisul Haque, Abdur Razzak, Faruk Khan, Dipu Moni, Shahjahan Khan, Golam Dastagir Gazi, Hasanul Haque Inu, and Rashed Khan Menon; state ministers Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Kamal Ahmed Mojumder; former army officer Ziaul Ahsan; and former home affairs secretary Jahangir Alam.

In response to two separate petitions from the prosecution, a three-member judicial panel led by Tribunal Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza issued this order on Sunday (October 27). The other members of the tribunal are Justice Shafiqul Alam Mahmud and Judge Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

Earlier, Chief Prosecutor Md. Tajul Islam filed a petition in the tribunal requesting their arrest and presentation before the tribunal.
