Dhaka-Moscow bilateral talks in Kazan

Foreign Secretary Md Jasim Uddin held a bilateral meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey A Rybakov on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia. 

The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations and explored various areas of mutual interest and cooperation. They also discussed the upcoming Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) in Moscow.

Foreign Secretary Jasim Uddin highlighted the historical ties between Bangladesh and Russia, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in areas like energy and food security. Deputy Foreign Minister Rybakov affirmed Russia’s commitment to advancing these “mature” ties further.

The Foreign Secretary expressed gratitude to the Russian side for Bangladesh’s invitation to the BRICS Summit and conveyed Bangladesh’s interest in contributing to the BRICS process. 

Rybakov, in turn, commended Bangladesh's engagement with multilateralism and reassured that Russia would support Bangladesh’s aspirations for a greater role in the expanding BRICS framework. 

He also acknowledged Bangladesh's role as a full member of the New Development Bank (NDB) and committed to continued support.

Faisal Ahmed, Chargé d'Affaires of the Bangladesh Embassy in Moscow, along with senior officials from both sides, were present during the meeting.
