Six people were killed when a truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Narsingdi’s Shibpur on Saturday noon.
Among the dead, two were identified as Abu Bakr, a lecturer at Narsingdi Women’s College, and the auto-rickshaw driver Shahin Mia.
Md Afzal Hossain, the officer-in-charge of Shibpur police station, said a truck rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Pocharbari on the Monohardi-Shibpur road around 12:00 noon, leaving five passengers and driver of the latter vehicle dead on the spot.
Later, the Fire Service and police personnel recovered the bodies.
Nasir Uddin, a witness, said the incident took place when the auto-rickshaw overtook another and rammed into the truck coming from opposite direction.
