A Dhaka court on Friday placed former State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain on a three-day remand in a murder case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Naznin Akter passed the order after the police produced him before the court, seeking a five-day remand.
The police arrested him, a former Awami League lawmaker from Kurigram-4, in Dhaka's Mohammadpur area on Thursday.
Shamim Hawlader, an electrician by profession, was shot dead in Beribadh area under the Mohammadpur police station on July 20 during the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement.
Later, the victim’s cousin Zakir Hossain filed a case with the police station in this connection.
State Minister Zakir was arrested in the case, according to the police.
