Hanif Mohammad returned back to life after losing heartbeat for six minutes as he battles for life at a hospital in Karachi.Regarded as one of the best batsmen in the world, Hanif has been battling with respiratory problems recently and had been admitted to the hospital a month back.He was later shifted to the ventilator at the Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi, reports The Indian Express.Earlier it was said that Hanif had passed away at 81 at the Hospital. His son, Test player, Shoaib Mohammad, had said that Hanif’s condition had deteriorated since Sunday forcing him to be put on the ventilator.‘He is now on a ventilator and in intensive care unit (ICU). He is facing respiratory complications due to his lung cancer,’ Shoaib had said.Hanif, nicknamed ‘The Little Master’ and was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2013. Then he received treatment in London and returned home well. But Shoaib said the cancer had spread with time.Hanif was part of the Pakistan squad that toured India for the first time in 1954-55 and then he went on to play 55 Tests scoring a memorable 337 runs against the West Indies in 1957-58.It remains the longest innings in Test history (and stood as the longest in all first-class cricket for over 40 years).Known for his desire to stay in the middle, he scored 499 in First Class and 337 in 970 mins in a Test match.
