Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, in a meeting with senior government officials on Monday, underscored the crucial role of digitisation in the fight against corruption.
The meeting focused on immediate steps to accelerate the adoption of digital processes across various sectors.
Key decisions included making the submission of tax returns via the e-return portal mandatory for all government officials in the greater Dhaka region. Large corporations were also encouraged to adopt the e-return system across their entire organisations.
Additionally, the meeting decided to launch a nationwide awareness campaign on digitisation, with a particular emphasis on improving the investment climate by digitising the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and advancing the National Single Window project.
Other significant resolutions included ensuring interconnectivity between government systems and creating a comprehensive roadmap for the full digitisation of land-related public services, with a clear timeline for execution.
Among the attendees were Md Siraj Uddin Mia, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, Chairman of NBR, ASM Saleh Ahmed, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Land, and Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of BIDA and BEZA.
