Mushfiqul Fazal appointed ambassador with senior secy rank

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appointed prominent journalist Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey as Ambassador with the rank of Senior Secretary.

This information was announced in a notification issued by the Contract and Foreign Employment Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday.

It stated that Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey is appointed as Ambassador in a foreign Bangladesh mission at the rank of Senior Secretary for a period of three years based on a contract, effective from the date of joining, on the condition that he relinquishes any employment relationship with any other profession, business, or governmental, semi-governmental, or private institution/organization. His job is assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for this purpose.

Currently based in Washington, DC, Mushfiqul continues his work as the White House and United Nations correspondent for JustNewsBD.

Through his work, he has consistently highlighted alleged human rights abuses, election fraud, and authoritarian governance in Bangladesh.

Mushfiqul’s critical journalism led to his exile in January 2015.

Previously, he served as assistant press secretary to former prime minister Khaleda Zia from 2001 to 2006.
