Hasina, 56 others sued over killing of youth in Rampura

A case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 56 others over the shooting death of Md Sohan Shah (30) during the anti-discrimination student movement in Rampura, Dhaka.

Sufia Begum, the mother of the deceased, filed the case in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arobia Khanom on Sunday. The court took the plaintiff's statement and instructed Rampura Police Station to register the complaint as a First Information Report (FIR). This information was disclosed by court sources on Monday.

Some notable accused in the case include Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Minister and Jasad President Hasanul Haq Inu, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, former Detective Branch (DB) Chief Harun-Or-Rashid, Awami League Office Secretary Biplab Barua, former Joint Commissioner Biplab Kumar Biswas, former Special Branch (SB) Chief Monirul Islam, and former Members of Parliament from Narsingdi-1 and Narsingdi-2 constituencies, Nazrul Islam Hiru.

According to case details, on July 19, during the anti-discrimination student movement, Sohan Shah was injured by gunfire in front of a CNG station in Rampura. He later died while undergoing treatment on August 28.
