Dhaka board chairman announces resignation amid student movement

Dhaka Education Board Chairman Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar has announced to step down from his post amid a student movement.

He will submit his resignation letter to the Ministry of Education on Monday morning, he himself confirmed to Jago News on Sunday night.

"The students sought my resignation. If they (students) call off their movement if If I resign, I will do it," he said.

Earlier this afternoon, a group of students entered the Dhaka Education Board premises and started a demonstration opposing the results of the Higher Secondary Certificate, HSC, and its equivalent examinations terming it 'discriminatory'.

They also demanded the government to publish the results again through mapping all subjects.

The students were demonstrating while filing of the report around 9:00pm and they said they will be there until their demands are met.
